Stephen Iser - Managing Director

Stephen started working at Hume & Iser as a timber yard hand in 1972. As a fourth generation member of the Iser family, one could say Stephen was born into a wealth of knowledge, experience and pride for the building industry. He worked alongside his father and uncles to learn the family business. Although he was the boss's son, he is no stranger to the manual work of the timber sheds. This was to be the foundation of his learning curve, his father (now retired) was a great believer in a hands-on approach to the running of a business. He would tell Stephen "The timber yard is Hume & Iser, you must first learn what goes on out there before you can begin to appreciate your staff and the work that they do". This taught Stephen that one of the secrets to Hume & Iser's success was and still is - their staff.

Stephen was then promoted as Junior office boy and began his education with the manual filling systems of old. Being groomed for the day he would take on the task of Managing Director. As the years went on, Stephen witnessed the growth of Hume & Iser, expanding into other aspects of the building Industry. Adding more divisions over the years such as Bricks, Tiles, Plaster, hardware etc.. Now the Managing director, he is committed in continuing the growth and development of the business and is always looking for new opportunities to ensure the on going success of Hume & Iser.

Committed to his staff, Stephen offers a good, happy and comfortable working environment. The staff possess a real sense of direction and ownership in the business. Stephen believes that offering excellent customer service, product knowledge and good competitive prices is the key to a "Happy Customer". Thus, the great tradition of Hume & Iser continues to grow and prosper.
